In 2016, what began as just me, grew organically into a community who raised $12k - what would happen if we tried again and we DOUBLED that?

Why now?
Not all acts of service need to be large, but this winter I'm going all in. Burn! The! boats! I want to intentionally create love this fall/winter (*cough* election season) and in my own way, set into motion the waves of unity, respect, hope and courage and i invite you to join me; whilst keeping your own hair.

What is the cause?
Haaaaave you met my friend St. B?
What began as a bar bet on St.Patrick,s Day (St.Patrick + Bald = St. Baldricks) has grown into the WORLDS largest, volunteer-driven, donor-centered, nonprofit for childhood cancer.
Childhood cancer research is grossly underfunded, this nonprofit works to fill that gap. St. Baldricks boasts excellent ratings and keeps internal overhead low and the excitement and dollars for charity HIGH through their head shave events, hosted all over the US.
Chapters are established locally by volunteers. These men & women recruit others within their community to help by participating in, donating to, marketing for and then executing these massive events of love.
I will be shaving in Monroe Louisiana, on January 11, 2025 as part of the Bald on the Bayou event hosted by 10-year veteran volunteer & my friend, Justin McLeod. Justin's committed dedication of his own time, skills, personal resources and heart for service should be applauded. TEN YEARS is an amazing gift and I'm humbled to join him for his 2025 shave.
Make a Donation because....
- More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease—in fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined.
- Before they turn 20, about 1 in 263 children in the U.S. will have cancer.
- Providing hospitals the funds to open high impact clinical trials for rare disease types, placing more children on studies to increase the rate of progress, while also increasing the likelihood for a child to receive the best treatment plan in a hospital near home.
- Funding supportive care research to improve the quality of life for patients and survivors. Supportive care research addresses the side effects of treatment, long-term effects faced by survivors, psychosocial aspects of childhood cancer and more.

My friend and local Detroit artist created our 'Love is the Vibe' swag for the sole purpose of lifting up those around us. 100% of all profits from our swag will go back into this fundraiser now through Jan 11th.

Why This? Why Now?
Have you ever thought; "if not me, then who? and If not now, then when?"
That was the train of thought that led me here...choo-choo!!!
I believe strongly in service and love because I've seen the ripple, I've felt the peace and I've experienced the grace and mercy of undeserved kindness and charity and I believe we are called to eagerly participate within that circle, not just to draw from it.
A wig made from human hair looks more natural, is more comfortable to wear, lasts much longer and can be cleaned and styled much easier - and someone has to be the one to say "here, have mine"
BUT the wig is the gravy. What I lack in charitable dollars, I have in spades in beautiful hair. What if I'm the head and you're the money and this isn't MY gift, it's OUR gift.

this is an energy, a mindset, assuming the best of people, practicing the pause and being intentional in service to those around us.
In a world full of brokenness and pain and soul hollowing grief choosing to practice and embody Jesus centered, love, from the lowest ground up, will always be the answer. It will heal you And the world around you.
The question itself, really never matters.
